Project Knapsack (“PK”) is a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit organization that fosters cross-cultural communication through PK’s international pen pal exchange between students in the United States and students in developing nations, specifically Africa. Elementary and secondary students on both continents are encouraged to talk about their interests, family, school and what life is like living on opposite ends of the globe.

Students on the developing side of the exchange each receive their very own personal backpacks filled with school supplies and other essential learning tools. The letter-writing component builds skills in the areas of writing, grammar, English language conventions, spelling, geography, topography and penmanship. Project Knapsack’s launch was in December of 2007, and has since expanded to South Africa, Zambia, and most recently, El Salvador. Project Knapsack will travel to South Africa and visit our new friends at the Molalatandi Primary School in Soweto. We value the wonderful relationships that we have established with all of our partner schools, organizations, foundations and friends who support education on a global scale.

Thank you again for your continued support of Project Knapsack Inc.

Best Regards,
